DTF transfers are a great way for you to stock up on designs that you can heat apply to just about any type of apparel whenever you want. A great option for On-Demand apparel and headwear needs. They work great on rain jackets and other apparel you typically cannot screen print or embroider. Heat apply these to cotton, blends, polyester, nylon, rayon and even leather.
Make sure your designs are as close to 300 DPI as possible at the size you want to print and they are on a transparent background before loading. PNG,SVG,PDF and EPS files work best.
Please use our provided template to do your layouts. Some have had issues with uploading their pre-made gang sheet where their gang sheet is smaller than our template.
DTF Transfer Application Instrcutions -
- Prepress the area where you are applying the transfer for about 8-10 seconds at 300 degrees. This will remove any excess moisture and wrinkles out of the material.
- Place the transfer on the desired location and heat press for 15 seconds at 300 degrees with medium pressure around 60% or 6 on a Hottronix Fusion press.
- For polyester and other materials that may have issues with dye migration test fabrics at 275 degrees for 20 seconds. We suggest 275 degrees at 20 seconds but you can go lower to 250 degress for 30 seconds. Always test first to be safe.
- The transfers are cold peel so allow them sit for a full 1 minute after pulling them off the heat press. COld peel transfers have better color gamut and color accuracy than hot peel.
- We do offer hot peel upon request. Allow an extra day for production.
- Start peeling from an edge that has heavy print coverage and peel pulling the corner down and toward the side with the least amount of print coverage.
If you notice any part of the transfer is not sticking to the substrate, you may have a cool spot on the heat press. Simply place the peeled portion back in place and adjust your placement on the heat press and repress it for 20 seconds. Then peel as described.
- After peeling you will want to heat press the garments 1-2 more times with lighter pressure and 30-40% or 3-4 on a Fusion heat press. This will allow more of the ink vapor to escape making the prints last longer, and feel softer. Solid block prints tend to feel a little rubbery when you do not heat press more than once.
